James Bunny Marr Funeral Reception

  • May 30, 2014
  • 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • GBYC Club House

As some of you may know, James “Bunny” Marr passed on Monday May 26, 2014. He was a veteran of the Normandy invasion and very active in our community. His obituary appeared in the Patch Wednesday morning.

Initially, the family wanted to hold a reception on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Mianus River Boat and Yacht Club, where he was a member. However, they are setting up for their Commissioning Day Saturday and could not accommodate the party. It was suggested that possibly they could use our Clubhouse.

As this will be an afternoon event (1 – 4pm) I did not feel that it would present any problems for us. The family has agreed to pay for a cleanup of the Clubhouse very early Saturday morning and an extra garbage pickup if necessary. I want to be sure that the Club will look nice for the usual Friday evening cook outs and the Saturday morning program “Suddenly in Command”.

As the family was making final arrangements, they needed an answer in a hurry. Given the situation, I did not have the time to discuss this matter with you, and agreed to let them use the Clubhouse. We will have a family member complete our Rental Agreement. Corbo’s Deli will be providing the food and I will ask Corbo’s for their insurance information.

I apologize for making this decision without input from you as that is not my style. However, I feel that an exception was warranted in this case. Oh, you realize that this is the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, don’t you?
