"WIND" the movie

directed by Carroll Ballard

Will Parker loses the America's Cup, the worlds biggest sailing prize, to the Australians and decides to form his own syndicate to win it back.

With Matthew Modine, Jennifer Grey, Cliff Robertson

The yachting sections and story line of the movie are loosely based on the story of real life sailor and America's Cup skipper Dennis Conner, who caused national embarrassment in 1983 by losing the America's Cup to the Australians.

"Wind" contains some of the most exciting sailing footage imaginable. The movie spans two races, as seen through the eyes of tanned, rugged Will Parker (Matthew Modine), a good helmsman who has been hired by a self-made millionaire (Cliff Robertson) to lead his crew.  It lasts a little over two hours.

The film will begin promptly at 7.15 pm so come at 7 pm to, collect your popcorn, open your beer and settle into your seat.

America's Boating Club was formerly known as United States Power Squadrons
